At Naas District Court on Monday 3rd March 2025, Chloe Walker Reid (25) with an address at Cnoc Na Greine, Kilcullen, Co Kildare and James Boland (26) of Oldgrange, Monasterevin, Co Kildare pleaded guilty to three offences each under sections 11 and 12 of the Animal Health and Welfare Act 2013 in a horse cruelty case.

Naas District Court heard harrowing details of the horse’s condition, revealing a shocking lack of care.

ISPCA Inspector James McCormack responded to a report in January 2023 and found a chestnut gelding in a field, visibly emaciated, unsteady, and in clear distress.

The horse’s condition was so dire that a vet assigned it a body condition score of 0 out of 5, indicating extreme emaciation.
